Australia has a set of criteria against which potential immigrants are assessed.  The main criteria are related to Skill, Age, English language ability, Specific work experience, Occupation in demand / job offer, Australian qualifications, Spouse skills, Bonus points and Relationship.

It is important to note that job titles in your country may not correspond to the same positions in Australia.  All occupations are assessed against Australian standards for that occupation.
Many require licensing and you should provide that your qualifications meet the required standards when you submit your application.

This self assessment test will help you assess your chances of qualifying.  You must have at least the followin marks to qualify for the Australian Immigration

- 110: If you are sponsored by an Australian relative; or
- 115: If you are not sponsored by an Australian relative.

Your nominated occupation is worth 60 points under Skill and have worked in your nominated occupation or closely related occupation for at least 3 of the 4 years before you apply.
Your nominated occupation is worth 40, 50 or 60 points under Skill and have worked in any occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List for at least 3 of the 4 years before you apply.
None of the above.

You have completed PhD (doctrate degree) in Australia, studying for at least 12 months full-time (one academic year).
You have studied post-secondary degree (or higher but excluding PhD), diploma or trade qualification in Australia, studying for at least 12 months full-time (one academic year).

You may receive points if your spouse is able to satisfy the basic requirements of age, English, language ability, qualifications, nominated occupation and recent work experience.

Your spouse have completed post-secondary qualifications (such as degree, diploma or trade) which has taken at least 12 months' full-time study
Your spouse has an occupation worth 60 points, and has been employed in that occupation for 1 of the last 1 year and a half years.
Your spouse has an occupation worth 40 or 50 points, and has been employed in that occupation for 2 years of the last 3 years.
BONUS POINTS
Capital Investment of A$100,000 in an approved Government security for a term of at least 12 monhts.
You have legally worked in Australia in one of the skilled occupations for at least 6 months in the four year before you apply.
You are holder of a qualification equivalent to an Australian degree in a designated language.
You are accredited as a professional interpreter or translator at the professional level (level 3) in a designated language by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI)

You may receive points if you or your spouse have a relative who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and is willing to sponsor you .
You or your spouse must be related to the sponsor as either:
a non-dependent child (natural, adoptive or stepchild)
a parent
a brother or sister (natural, adoptive or step sibling) or
a niece or nephew (a natural, adoptive or step niece or nephew)
